Hello #rstats, I'm searching for work opportunities and wanted to put out a friendly inquiry. My work has focused on shiny and package development, github.com/nteetor/. I would appreciate any advice or leads and I am happy to talk more. Thank you!

Wait a minute. Over Christmas holiday, people had something better to do?
11.01.2025 19:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Gotta say, the {ellmer} package is robust and pretty darn easy to use. Nicely done, Dr. Wickham!
10.01.2025 02:41 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0ellmer (formerly known as elmer) is now on CRAN! ellmer makes it easy to chat with LLM models from a variety of providers and includes support for streaming responses, tool calling and structured data extraction: ellmer.tidyverse.org #rstats
09.01.2025 18:13 β π 140 π 49 π¬ 6 π 1@matloff.bsky.social @datavisfriendly.bsky.social I have a "small-ish n" problem, the covariance of short-ish time series. The EWMA cov estimate worked pretty well, but the matrix was not invertible ("uncooperative"). The cov.shrink function gave an invertible matrix; and the shrinkage was a bonus.
07.01.2025 21:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0OMG. @eddelbuettel.com points out that the correct spelling of the function is `cov.shrink`. Thank you, Dirk! #mybad

05.01.2025 18:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Are you an #rstats person struggling with an uncooperative covariance matrix? I was. I tried the `cov.shink` function of the {corpcor} package and got a very noticeable improvement in my models. Recommended. #positive #definite

31.12.2024 14:22 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you! Your comments and code example are very useful. This whole S7 thing is looking quite good. Time to get my hands dirty.
29.12.2024 18:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thank you. That is quite helpful, actually. Seeing someone work thru their use-case is great.
29.12.2024 18:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0On paper, the new S7 tools for object-oriented programming in #rstats sound great. Can anyone comment on their experience using S7? I haven't seen any discussion about it. I use R6 often, and S7 looks even better. (And, BTW, many thanks to @hadley.nz for spearheading the S7 project!)
