Danielle Smith wants climate laws scrapped before Grey Cup. What will she offer in return? | CBC News Before the 112th Grey Cup gets underway next week, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is expecting a major chapter to unfold in the long-running federal-provincial battle over energy policy. But there are...

CanadΓ‘ will be a much better place once Alberta voters toss Premier Smith and the UCP out of government. The #ClimateCrisis is real.

This.
We've had very smooth vaccination roll-outs for decades. We didn't forget how to do it just this year. This is 100% by design. They want you to get so exasperated you either give up or pay out of pocket. Then they make both their antiscience fuckwit and privatization bases happy. Ghouls.

You can't book more than one person for a flu or covid vaccine. So if you have kids, how does this work? I hate this fuckingΒ province.

The plan is cookie cutter. Break public healthcare. Pour the money into private facilities. Collect kickbacks from corporations and get your pat on the back from Trump. Smith is deliberately destroying universal healthcare in Alberta. She is hurting the people who elected her.

πŸ’” Taken from the page of a heartbroken Alberta teacher…

There’s so much misinformation right now β€” and it hurts to see teachers being torn apart in ads paid for with our own tax dollars.
Here’s what I see really happening πŸ‘‡

We were offered a bad contract. We voted NO.

The same offer came back (plus a β€œfree COVID vaccine”). We voted NO again β€” 90% of us.

We gave the government lots of time to come back with something better. They didn’t.

When the strike began, they refused to meet for six days.

When they finally did, we brought a fair proposal β€” they offered nothing back.

Teachers had nothing to vote on.

They told us to β€œgo back to work” (after locking us out).

They still refuse to talk about the two biggest issues:
πŸ‘‰ Class size caps
πŸ‘‰ Classroom complexity

πŸ“Š Let’s fact check Dani:

Statement: β€œThe ATA rejected their offer.”
❌ FALSE – The government didn’t put an offer forward.

Statement: β€œThe ATA hasn’t sent an offer.”
❌ FALSE – The ATA has sent many offers β€” all rejected outright. TEBA has not put forward a single counteroffer.

Statement: β€œThe ATA needs to come back to the table.”
❌ FALSE – The ATA has been at the table. The government/TEBA is stalling. They spent over a week β€œreviewing” the last proposal and still didn’t respond with anything.

I know everyone β€” myself included β€” wants nothing more than to be back in the classroom.
Many have said their child’s learning is being deeply impacted by missing these days of instruction. I understand that.
But the truth is, the learning environment the Alberta government has created in classrooms impacts children’s education every single day of the school year.

If these days of disruption can help correct the conditions our students are learning in, the learning gains ahead will be exponential β€” for months and years to come.

Something has to change.

We’re fighting for kids, schools, and the future of public education in Alberta.

Before you outright believe the ads β€” ask a teacher.
We’re not the enemy.

The ATA has presented many offers, while TEBA has not made a single counter-offer. The government refuses to address class size caps at the bargaining table, the major point of the negotiation. They instead threaten to legislate teachers back to work and strip them of their charter rights.

Introducing legislation to force an agreement with teachers would mean invoking the not withstanding clause to suspend constitutionally protected rights of workers to free assembly. The clause has never been used this way before and would set a dangerous precedent.

A friend spotted these messages of support for teachers on the fence at Riverdale School.

Teachers are fighting for a fair deal, smaller class sizes & safer classrooms - for better for their students & our public education system as a whole.

We stand with them. ❀️#abpoli
