Yeah, I'd think so? The diagonal of a 40mm square is roughly 60mm, so to my brain, you'd need something between the straight and the diagonal size. Which would be the 50mm round, I think.
For the ones that seem small on the base, you could always add a newly corpsified enemy or some other guff.
