Fog and shadows?
Always a selling point.
Absolutely worth celebrating!

Laird Cregar is also quite good in a creepy film called Hangover Square.
He died at age 31, related to a heart attack after a weight-loss battle that included surgery.
โฆ is good but naive as a stage star who draws his attention.
The film relies effectively on underlying tension; if itโs bloody gore you want, even by 1944 standards, stay away.
Itโs a fine adaptation of a book that inspired Hitchcockโs silent THE LODGER: A STORY OF THE LONDON FOG in 1927.
Poster for the movie The Lodger.
First watch: THE LODGER (1944).
Whatโs not to love when Jack the Ripper wanders Londonโs fog-shrouded, cobblestone streets at night?
The atmosphere is a main character here. Laird Cregar is increasingly menacing toward the end as the Ripper, while Merle Oberon..

These amazing down-to-the-wire games this evening are exactly why college basketball is my favorite sport.

I was that way with Tom Jones (the movie, not the singer). I didnโt care much for it as I watched it, but I grew to hate it within days. ๐คฃ

Do you like it? Or 12 Monkeys?
I do find the shared premise fascinating.
I have not.

I thought the plot was rather muddled, but it couldโve just been my lack of interest. I found the reason for the plagueโs origin unsatisfying.
Iโve heard the film is better with repeat viewings.
Not likely for me.

Movie poster for 12 Monkeys.
First watch: 12 MONKEYS (1995).
While I liked the dystopian atmosphere, I never really felt engaged in this film and didnโt care about the characters.
I thought the premise of traveling from 2035 back to 1990 (uh, 1996) to gather information about a virus that โฆ
