Ah heck. I’m a sedimentologist and microfossil analyst. I call my samples dirt all the time. But I *never* call my sediments soils. The horror! 😳 (but I do analyse soils too, so they don’t feel left out…)

I decided to make this free to read but it's only £2 a month to read everything I post on my site (or £20 a year). You also get full access to my archive of writing, which goes back over 10 years.

And I'm definitely not just mentioning this as I have a fuckload of house moving costs on the horizon.

The female Common Kingfisher Alcedo atthis in a small London park was showing really well this morning #birds. The male was elsewhere, so there was no more courtship behaviour seen today, following yesterdays extended session. No cropping was required.

I have two large sculptures made by the Kenyan artist Wanjohi Nyamu, which I need to move on.

Wanjohi made these while on a working visit to London and Oakham in 2009.

He has previously worked at Oakham School.
