22.02.2026 13:07 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0ok but can you make a puppy morph into two puppies facing the other way in the most unnatural way possible and burn 2-3 glaciers in the process while also causing 3 separate computer components to go 3x in price overnight?
take that AI atheists
you also had a survey for pd2 it seems, which I didnt see. did it have a good amount of responses or was it missed by a large amount of people again?
21.02.2026 15:03 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0in the latest update @kde.org launched a feature to save your current selection of various customisations into a new global theme, which in theory is very nice but I was hoping it would actually package everything, including whatever custom cursors I have added, with graphics and all๐

20.02.2026 21:25 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0done and working.
is it perfect? of course not!
can it break? hell yea!
but I am one guy, in a morning. surely the big linux companies can come up with something right?
A system like this would advance linux desktop a great bunch I would say. companies would be more inclined to go linux.
currently working on some ansible logic to rotate ssh keys for better security and I can't help but wonder why we are not using a similar logic to integrate it in the system and to have something at least similar to Windows AD and Domain stuff on linux.
19.02.2026 11:29 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1ok but like... invent.kde.org/plasma/plasm...
this is still on the main branch of the official repo?!
one of the beautiful things about linux is you just stumble upon stuff, dont like exactly how it works, and now you are tweaking the plocate timer and making a small wrapper script for it using fzf of course, and maybe gum!

12.02.2026 18:14 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0HUH, I just tried the blur variant of the willow window decorations for KDE and it does NOT unblur and reblur when moving a window anymore!
I wonder if this was done by the willow dev, or something changed in KDE.
what are they even doing, my installation never changed the version (according to systemd-boot) from september last year and in the right lower corner it still says 6.5 dev.
10.02.2026 18:32 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I wasn't done!
I added graphs to tell me total traffic in my network!
and with this, my journey into knowing almost everything about my stuff comes to an end (maybe?)
This one takes 10x than a node-exporter one.
The cadvisor for the docker server takes 5x.
the 10x means 600ms anyway, should be fine!
oh, you're upset upset ok

08.02.2026 14:41 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0what is your router situation looking like?
08.02.2026 14:39 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Just had some fun with cadvisor to better monitor my home shit, and I also took the opportunity to containerize even the node-exporter for prometheus.
very fun, and I absolutely love having this level of insight!
I am talking to all sysadmins when i say this, but no. Just don't.
(I deleted the part of the post where I was going on a rant. Just don't do this.)
They also offer DNS adblocking, which, while limited, is still a good first defense. Now with the Back-to-Home VPN setup, I will always have that, without extra software.
06.02.2026 01:37 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0the reason why I said "scary" is because of skill issue on my side, 100%. networking was never something I got particularly interested in, but overall, getting a @mikrotik.social was a solid decision because of the features, level of control, and general quality. The thing also looks awesome!
06.02.2026 01:35 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 1Wow, I can not believe how painless that was. I am still blown away by the fact that I just installed the app on my phone, added my router, and it was like "don't worry bro I gotchu" and now I enabled always-on VPN on my phone and I will always have access to my stuff.
06.02.2026 01:29 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0was having issues with tailscale's stability, decided to start looking into wireguard and only after that I remembered I have a shiny (and very often scary) @mikrotik.social! the 4th entry in the menu is literally called "Wireguard"!
They also have a "Back-to-Home" app that sets EVERYTHING up!
* as a server you can have any number of emoticons but in private messages you can not use from any of your joined servers, unless you pay! woo! fortunately not your shiny orbs! do not fret, all your orbs are safe! ๐
06.02.2026 00:16 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0happy to announce that alex petros on the htmx team is leading our effort to move some ideas from htmx (generalized hypermedia controls) into the HTML specification:

one thing that irks me about @kde.org is how messy the .config directory gets. yes, they are all (mostly?) all in .config but some are in the root of it, some are in a KDE directory others in a kde.org directory, other apps have their own folder, etc.

05.02.2026 21:33 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0related to this also wanted to mention I find it funny that out of all the possible (and popular) packaging formats, they are releasing the nightly only for the single one I do not use, and will always avoid, snap.
