I read NYT's article about the January 6th Pink Hat Lady, who was under house arrest for about 3 years and in prison for 1. My thoughts: A) Why? Why write this article? B) Cringe. Pure cringe. She's in her 40s and has 8 kids and 6 grandkids. She got a J6 friendship prison tattoo. Ughhh. FFS.

I am sincerely jealous of their relationship. I can't imagine what it's like to have a brother that you get along with and like to hang out with and can do things together. 😭 I play a D&D game with two brothers (and their cousin too), and I'm like, "WHAT IS THIS???" Not fair. 🫠

Ugh, I feel you. We're out here marching, for EVERYONE not just ourselves, and then a fellow marcher shoots us in the back and stomps over our corpses. 💀

I'm OK with (and quite used to, I work at a school) kids having bad takes because they're young, but the cruelty in their response really shocked me. I guess it shouldn't have, but, woof.

[PS] I shouldn’t have responded, but I have this flaw of thinking I can fix internet people, so I told them that “pregnant people” is inclusive of everyone, but it’s not “empowering” for everyone. There are plenty of people who get pregnant who do not want to be.

They respond, “Just talk about it when it makes sense. Saying pregnant people is supposed to be EMPOWERING AND INCLUSIVE. Do you feel empowered because you were R as a child? Don’t bother to answer I’m done with you.” W O W. That’s when I looked at their profile. I'm completely flabbergasted. [5/5]

I say that being quiet about it doesn’t help victims, and that I was a victim of childhood sexual assault, so, yes, I do talk about it “easily”. [4/5]

This “agender fairy” hops in and yells at me for bringing that up and tries to insinuate I’ve done something wrong and that I talk about it too “easily”. I assumed they were just another transphobe (because of course). I respond that unfortunately it happens even though it shouldn’t happen. [3/5]

It’s really thrown me for a loop. I, in response to someone else, pointed out that children can also get pregnant and that referring to them as adult “women” is insane. [2/5]

I was tone-policed in a Meta threat about "pregnant person" being changed to "pregnant women," not by one of the transphobes, but by a young, blue-haired "agender fairy" who likes Pokemon and has, "If you’re racist, sexist, queerphobic or ableist, you are not welcome☺️" on their profile. [1/5]

There’s an HBO mini docuseries about her called The Lady and The Dale. I watched it back in 2021 and don’t have much memory of it, but I rated it 3/5 and said, “A fascinating story, for sure, but presented in one of the most awful formats I have ever seen.” 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh, MST3K is the best. I stopped listening to it while I worked only to prevent associating it with my work (which is bad).

I sent a long text to my brother today saying the things I want to say to our parents. I’m testing the waters. If he’s mad and doesn’t talk to me again that’s OK. I haven’t put nearly as much effort and emotional investment in my relationship with him compared to the one I have with our parents.

Griffin created and hosts the series with his older brother, Justin, who is also a podcaster, actor, writer, and former video game journalist. From the Monster Factory Wiki, quote: "The Junker, aka the Scum Junker, was a regular criminal who fell into a vat of Skull, and became a rural version of DC Comics' the Joker. ... He likes football and country music."

*I can completely understand the people who were put off by it though.

It has a TON of gratuitous sex scenes. They’re not irrelevant to the plot, but they give off a strong “this was directed by a heterosexual man” vibe. It’s something that *I* could look past because everything else is delightful and strange, and the core purpose and themes of the film are good.

There are a few high fantasy and sword and sorcery films in there, but also a lot of magical realism and horror too, so, I’d check the genres or descriptions to confirm what you’re interested in or comfortable with.

Amelie, Poor Things, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Palm Springs, I’m a Cyborg, but That’s OK, A Knight’s Tale, Spring (2014), and Lisa Frankenstein all have HEAs. 3-Iron, yes? Mostly?
