people really need to internalize the idea that someone deserving to die (makes the world a worse place by continuing to live) =/= should get the death penalty (entrust the state to execute, altering behavior of victims and predators alike)

not going to get into it but the fear that i would be responsible for something horrible happening to someone who i cared deeply about scared me so bad i couldn’t even call it rape for years. this isn’t an awesome epic win for survivors. the death penalty will never be an epic win for survivors

got assaulted as (legally) an adult by (legally) another adult so it’s different but this kind of thing is why i and so many other survivors don’t report what happened to us. we don’t want to be “responsible” for what happens to our abusers
