I don't think it's superlative to suggest that China intends to take a leaf out of the Russian playbook and is currently watching and processing global reactions to the sorry culmination of the invasion of Ukraine.

Let's not forget that particular invasion began on the pretext of similar military exercises which now surround Taiwan's Kinmen Island, off the coast of the Chinese mainland.

Because if there's one thing the West's learning quickly, it's that nothing happens in isolation in contemporary geopolitics and China is probably paying very close attention to the global response to the 28-point plan set out on the table for Ukraine to force down.
