Trump's capitulation to Russian advances is hardly going to put a stop to future incursions on independent nations. At least with China we have a nod towards a defined timeline.

There is a developing axis of new world powers shadowing and undermining Western democracies. They're currently enabling each other to evade sanctions.

I don't think it's superlative to suggest that China intends to take a leaf out of the Russian playbook and is currently watching and processing global reactions to the sorry culmination of the invasion of Ukraine.

Let's not forget that particular invasion began on the pretext of similar military exercises which now surround Taiwan's Kinmen Island, off the coast of the Chinese mainland.

Because if there's one thing the West's learning quickly, it's that nothing happens in isolation in contemporary geopolitics and China is probably paying very close attention to the global response to the 28-point plan set out on the table for Ukraine to force down.

Personally looking forward to the day Trump is forced to eat his words when faced with trade blockades around Taiwan when the latter is invaded by China.

Robbie Gibb was appointed to the BBC Board by Boris Johnson, was an editorial advisor for GB News, and worked as Theresa May's Director of Comms.

He is not impartial or neutral. The government should remove him from the Board immediately to protect the BBC's independence.

Ex Lithuanian foreign minister Gabrielius Landsbergis

The Putin-Trump surrender plan is the end if European security. If you decided you didn’t care about Ukraine (I do, but just if) you should oppose with every fibre if you don’t want further Russian attacks on Europe.

It really is that simple.

Along with Lord Lamont's counter-argument about legitimisation of a product with no intrinsic value, I'd say this is also a good shout for early conversion if any of the seized proceeds land in the Chancellor's lap.

If Michael Prescott didn’t leak the BBC bias dossier to the Telegraph, who did? A whodunnit with serious implications for the future of the broadcaster is underway – with all expected to be revealed at a select committee showdown

β€œHaving someone like Robbie Gibb on the board is like a wolf in a sheep-pen. In some ways, it’s not his fault. It’s in his nature. He’s doing what he believes to be right. The real problem is the absolute lack of pushback from a weak chairman [Shah] and other board members.”
