Using tools like NotebookLM or StudyFetch are great. It gives kids some room to take source material and interact with it how they want-podcast, summaries, flash cards, review problems, etc. In PBL, a SchoolAi space created on your content for students to review, etc

A3 #EduSkyAI I think of it as AI is a great tool to use. Ex-Students come up with the idea for the deliverable (theme, focus, “choice”) but AI can make that idea more deep and meaningful. You always get the “what else can I come up with?” Convos.

A2 #EduSkyAI students had to design a biodome on a distant planet and survive for 30 days. One of the uses of AI was having it help craft their Captains Log.

Q1 #EduSkyAI had students create pieces for their project and feedback for certain benchmarks based on the rubric. Ex-creating a them park in algebra, so students had Ai design the ticket.

A3: tough. As a guideline, sure. But as the teacher, that’s my call based on my student needs and growth. If I’m assessing the process, I have a better evaluation of content knowledge attained by the student.

A2: I’ve used Ai as a feedback tool when creating a custom gpt for a project-utilized the rubric, outline, etc and the kids could load their content in and have the bot give it feedback based on their submission vs the rubric and outcomes to enhance their final product.

A1: to align with my project to make it connected, for sure. Ex-if im doing an amusement park math project, my scaffolding problems are themed to the amusement park to keep it connected for the kids. Then I can create “skills based” questions to support the standards.

Teacher collaboration will result in student success. For example, imagine the outcomes when a civics class is tasked with building a future city and the math class is integrating systems of equations to support the project. #connections

I’m seeing in the K-12 (mostly 7-12) that PBL can be effective in the age of ai bc we can assess during the process of a project vs assessing outcomes (like a test). Just like in math it’s great to have Ss justify their reasoning vs presenting just the answer.

By allowing deeper insights into the content to create meaningful engagement for students. Take a lesson and personalize it, so you can continue the relationships being built with students.

“Ai Literacy” is key. Teachers foster the relationships and are “coaching” the kids in the classroom. AI is a tool that can increase student outcomes if leveraged properly. Students need AI citizenship just as much as digital citizenship (yes-there is a difference imo)

A1: I think a thoughtful approach is necessary but leverage it. It can be creative, analytical but now a huge part of edu, like digital citizenship.

A3: the ability for students to have their own personalized Ai assistant and tutor. Not have something provide a solution, but something that helps guide the path as they work with it.

A4: being able to have ai accomplish just one task to make your lives easier. Just even a simple tool to make a word doc, prompt, etc into a slide deck, form or whatever, so your energy can be more for your kids.

A2: lack of education on what can be an “appropriate use” of Ai. Ignoring it won’t educate students or teachers on how to leverage it for meaningful learning.

Did a cool project to highlight this in spring of 2023 where Ss created biodome & had to apply chemistry concepts to survive for 30 days on a distant planet. Part of that was using ChatGPT to create their Captains log that highlighted their creation-PROMPTING was a HUGE lesson here. #ArtOfPrompting
