Bull Runs Wild To Stage Extra Rodeo Thriller Police Shoot Animal After Chase; Pair of Performers Hurt Rodeo activities overflowed the Orange Bowl stadium, where they began a seven-day run Sunday and caused a neighborhood uproar as a Brahma bull charged through yards and streets before five bullets from a policeman’s pistol killed it. And that wasn’t the only excitement of the day. An employe went to a hospital with burns and a Wild West rider preceded him there with a broken leg, suffered when his horse fell on him. The bull provided the most excitement. He was one of three that broke out of a pen. Riders soon rounded up two, but the third, a big, adventurous and somewhat bewildered creature, raced into the parking lot adjacent to the stadium, then through a dozen back yards. Crowd In Pursuit He started across the Twelfth avenue bridge with men on horseback, boys on bicycles, policemen on motorcycles and men and women afoot hurrying behind. In

the middle of the bridge the unhappy animal turned and scattered the crowd. Patrolman George Lovett commandeered a car, drew alongside the bull, which by then was charging at automobiles and bicycles, and fired two shots into its neck. The animal ran into a yard with the officer, now afoot, in pursuit. Infuriated, the humped creature spun on its antagonist and caused Lovett to take refuge behind a tree. Three more bullets zinged into its body. Rodeo riders got lassoes on the creature several times but he broke them. He damaged three police motorcycles and several bicycles, then, bleeding from his wounds, galloped back over his tracks and re-entered the stadium with nine policemen and cowboys in hot pursuit. Fire Dive Back in the arena, the animal leaned against a fence, lowing with pain, slipped to the ground and paid with his life for his hour of furious freedom. Leo Burke, a youngster from Kansas City, threw a can of inflammable oily substance into a water tank into which Ella Carver dived from a platform 90 feet high. Somehow, the oil broke into flames too soon and Burke suffered second degree burns of the right arm. Victoria hospital reported him in fair condition.
