My 3yo daughter who has never played a video game before was able to try 4-5 of them! Her favorite was Pelican Post for its cozy cute vibe and the fact that she could jump/walk/drive without obstacles.

A first for me: I wrote a song inside a dream! I was about to show it to some musical friends, started getting shy and stalling, then suddenly woke up. It was 3am so I jotted down the words with solfège, and tried to go back to sleep.

Can now confirm: the song is… very mediocre!

I also appreciate it from a design perspective. It is a highly functional guide complete with a map, checklist, icon key, and clean consistent format for easy scanning. Huge thanks and props to the creator Sara Snyder for putting this together 🙏🏽.

In addition to family time my goals are: get healthier, design a board game with/for my 3yo, try some new games. Anything else I accomplish is bonus!

Initially I had all kinds of ambitious plans for my leave, including indie projects and even teaching as an adjunct (i had an offer!)

But all of them conflicted with the purpose of my leave: to care for my family and bond with our new addition. So I’m keeping it simple.

Tomorrow starts part 2 of parental leave, which goes through the end of the year! This will be my longest break from work since… well ever. The whole thing is exciting and strange!

When AI evangelists say “AI is just a tool”, it sounds a lot like “guns don’t kill people”. Sure they CAN be used for good… but that’s not why we’re complaining.

We just wrapped preproduction on our huge sequel project codenamed “Sunny”! These first few days of alpha have been intense! But the team is solid and we’re learning as we go :).

My mom visited Portugal for a wedding and brought back a “traditional dress” for Lenni. But I think it’s a Mirabel costume?

All in all it was a lovely trip full of fun and friendship, new and old. ‘Till next time NYC.

And to cap it off, I visited some childhood friends in Long Island and met their little babies. Much cute very adorbs!
