Sam Altman is afraid of OpenAI's GPT-5 creation โ€” "The Manhattan Project feels very fast, like there are no adults in the room" "What have we done?" OpenAI CEO raises alarm and concern over the company's soon-to-launch AI model, which is rapidly outpacing oversight.

Lmao dude no it fucking isn't. You've invented a barely functional input-output device, not a nuke. It doesn't know anything and poses zero threat to humanity. The only threat posed is the investors buying into your snake oil

I fully agree, as somebody who is currently re-making every single Jira card in my project in ClickUp just so I can get a nicer Gantt view

I actually do co-own a studio that operates as a worker co-op! We don't have any funding yet, mind you. But the process of incorporating as a co-op in the UK was a fun learning experience. tl;dr is www.uk.coop can set you up with all the legal docs you need to be 'legally-enforcable' as a co-op

My guess: most representatives don't read bills unless they're the sponsor and will simply vote things through unless the party leadership tells them not to. In this case they didn't seem to care

I'm sat in this jazz bar me and my wife like. On stages comes a band of 17 different guys. They don't even fit in stage. They just played "Ain't That a Kick in The Head" followed by "Blue Moon", so I think I have an idea of these nerds' taste in videogames

Hot take: While pollsters still put Trump's approval surprisingly high, the class of white middle class median voter *who actually turns out to vote* has completely lost faith in the Republicans.

A common practice from game companies when they discriminate against workers and the worker files a grievance is to double down.

The companies claim the worker is under performing and will be disciplined, they force them into office, and they isolate them.

Then they offer the worker a settlement.

"With the tumultuous start of the second Trump Administration, two of the agencies that workers rely on to protect their rights and hold corporations accountable โ€“ the Department of Labor (DOL) and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) โ€“ are under attack,โ€ she wrote. โ€œBetween Trumpโ€™s illegal firing of NLRB member Gwynne Wilcox, Elon Musk challenging the National Labor Relations Act as unconstitutional, and huge tech giants like Amazon already using the vacant NLRB as grounds to reject union wins, itโ€™s clear that Trump and the billionaire class he represents are working day and night to dismantle labor laws and put even more power back in the hands of corporations. We can no longer expect to rely on traditional legal frameworks to build worker power and to improve workplace conditions.โ€

If the right-wing, reactionary government that we increasingly have wants to start stripping away that process, they're going to quickly remember that, actually, the NLRB and NLRA are a peace treaty between workers and bosses.

cwa, which represents over 2,000 workers across companies like microsoft, is launching a new games industry-wide union that anyone can join, even laid-off workers. with legal frameworks for organizing under attack, it's a return to tactics that predate those systems

Does anybody know of a web plugin that can remove this button from YouTube's player? I only ever press it by accident and it completely ruins the experience.

There was always debates about "Are games art" when I was at uni. The answer our prof always came to was "All games are art because art is a game we play with ourselves"

All the most impactful moments in the story are moments of kindness. The game, to me, is an ode to community.

15.02.2025 04:00 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Throughout the story, the things that stand out to me aren't how cruel the world is, but the kindness and sense of community that exists *despite* the cruelty.

The way Viktor keeps V alive because he is ultimately their friend. How Mama Welles puts V up, how Misty checks in on them.

15.02.2025 03:57 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

V has a massive impact on the world, but they don't change its nature. It's still cyberpunk. It's still a dying world ruled by corporate greed. It isn't about ending that. It's about finding joy and meaning in such a world.

Okay I'm actually gonna do a bit of an essay here about why I thought 2077 was so good.

15.02.2025 03:53 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I find all the endings to be really good in that there's no 100% positive ending. Even in the "good" endings, V's fate is kinda ambiguous. Personally, I love it. To me it says "You've got this character where they need to go, now they're their own person."

I'm*trying* it. Only because:
- I know a few devs of different disciplines
- we have other means to support ourselves while we get off the ground.

Even after those are both true, it's A LOT of admin overhead which leaves very little time to actually design a game. Most Devs need money *now*
