This baby cardinal's parents were nearby watching,he was crying for them, but then took a tentative leap to the next branch, flapping his baby wings...then papa bird arrived and fed him a juicy worm.

Do you use the float test? Drop a quarter size bit of your starter in a cup of water. If it floats, it's ready! This is the recipe I used ...and her website has so much info, recipes and videos. Great for beginners. I made delicious pancakes using discard.

My first attempt at making sourdough bread was a great success! Crisp on the outside and soft and springy on the inside. I used heritage wheat from Sunrise Flour Mill. It was a long and sometimes confusing process, but now having done it, the next one will be easier. #sourdough

We have this mounted on a 6 foot pole with a cone shaped squirrel baffle, so they can't climb up. It's not close to any trees or bushes so they cant jump from them onto the feeder

Hah! You just named all the other birds who visited the feeder today. Along with Goldfinches and even a big Northern Flicker! It was a tight fit for him, but not being able to perch on the other feeders he enjoyed the easy landing on this one
