Terry A. Davis (TempleOS) had a break from reality and built an operating system to divine gods will through random number generators, and he still made more sense than the majority of tech CEOs huffing that LLM exhaust

Computer memory is now 5x more expensive than it was just 1 year ago.

In fact, memory now accounts for more than 50% of the total cost of a new computer in many cases, even though it was a small faction of the total a year ago.

Thanks, Tech Bros! Hallucinating robots were totally worth it! 🫩

Miraculously my wife and I both left work during the daylight today.

We spent a glorious hour in a double hammock reading and enjoying the breeze and it was the best day I have had in a long time.

They don't want you to own a computer. They want you to rent computing power from them, forever.

Average consumer can't buy RAM or SSD/HDD at reasonable rates because they're bought years in advance for data centers that aren't built yet.

GPUs went through this a few years ago because of the crypto gold rush.

I love personal computing. I love PC gaming. I love self-hosting applications and setting my family and friends up with tech that works.

It's too expensive now. There's no good prices for parts.

The right supports corporations that price lock the average consumer out of owning personal computers

Not full on spiraling, but like having A Moment over the idea of not being able to buy a computer again. The thing that has been somewhat commonplace to how we view work and entertainment with the house. Gone! Sorry, that consumer electronic is now a couple tax brackets above you. Tough break, kid

I genuinely have no idea how to convey this to the American people, but I think the biggest impediment to any kind of immigration reform is that people are convinced that "legal" and "illegal" are immutable, intrinsic categories instead of a rapidly-shifting arbitrary constellation of regulations.

The professionalism is indisputable, no? An undisciplined and untrained policing agency steeped in this much contempt and disregard of the citizenry can't actually be reformed. Abolish -- before more of us are beaten, killed or detained indefinitely and without legal cause.

Finished in 19 days, with about 45 hours of playtime.
Beautiful game. Great story, memorable and outstanding characters.
The combat, which I was very bad at considering the QTEs and timing based dodge and parries, also bored me to tears. Will likely never replay.
Overall, B+

Saying there must be trials isn't just an emotive aspiration.

Congress can:
- Create a new court (complying w/ 6A jury vicinage)
- Give it jurisdiction over defined category of crimes
- Also create dedicated prosecutors for the same
- Strip SCOTUS of appellate jurisdiction

It can be done.

We are being led into a world of global contempt by morons, cranks and grifters.

This is it.

The reality of our mythologies for America is that we have several. It’s not one or the other.

We pick which one we want to honor and which becomes the warning.

This creates a natural stress response that basically means you're going to continue having memory and organizational problems, as well as emotional imbalances.

This is Liam Ramos. The five year old that ICE took from a Minneapolis school and sent BY HIMSELF WITHOUT HIS FAMILY to a detention facility in Texas. There are monsters among us and they are wearing masks, carrying guns, and work for the US government.

It doesn't matter if the intent to invade Greenland is real or not. Damage is already done. The cat is never back into the bag.

There are anti-ICE signs on every business, every streetlight, every blank wall, in half the windows. Everyone is wearing anti-ICE clothing. No one talks about anything else, at the bus stop, at work, at the bars and restaurants, at the store.

Total unity around one idea: ICE OUT NOW
