Yeah. I just... I was almost able to get it together. But today just flopped. And he was so disappointed. 😔

I just feel like I've failed in yet another way as a parent, and about something he actually wanted to do apart from play games on his tablet, which I was hoping to encourage. 😔

To be fair, he only expressed interest in it about two weeks ago, and unfortunately the way our life is structured I need at least a month lead up to prepare for such a thing.

And he wanted to be an owlbear-devil-wizard, so kind of a tall order for my amateur costuming skills.

Cool how we say to our kids “you can be whatever you want to be” but the reality is that for women and girls who might want to be in public life, we’re actively doing almost nothing to prevent gender based violence - it is currently a deliberate choice to allow this in our policy and in our culture.

Just crashing out now about having failed to get my kid's Halloween costume together, and having no energy to take him out trick or treating, and it's only the first time ever that he's actually expressed interest in participating in Halloween at all. 😔

Yeah that's a solid "nah" from me too. Fund schools better. Fund more teacher aides. Give EVERY kid an education plan which supports them to learn and thrive! This is an excuse to keep underfunding the public education system by segregating autistic kids and it sucks.

With what's going on in the USA, I'm deeply suspicious of any RW govt supporting further segregation and categorisation.

This example is particularly ironic as autism is considered a reason to deny someone residency and/or citizenship of NZ.
