Been digging on Space 1999 the last few days- forgot what a wonderfully cheesy show this was and how much I loved it as a kid! Great stories and a decent budget for that time. Fills in between Star Trek TOS and Star Trek The Motion Picture- + a lot of concept work that found its way into Star Wars

This assemblage is called "Logos" and speaks to reason and judgement as applied to art. I'm concerned with the vision of artists being commodified and watered down by social media as it is inevitably reduced by algorithms that push people towards the average.

Given that my image of "Gnosis" was censored from an earlier post (not at all sure why as nudity, even with multiple figures, is not pornography) here is an image of "Sophia" where the same spiritual concept is addressed in this mixed media painting.

This drawing on rag paper is titled, "Worship". Rather than describe my own process and content for this picture, I will leave room for the viewers to apply their own narrative.

"Portrait of Gerti Schiele" by Egon Schiele presents his sister Gerti in a delicate and stylized pose, capturing the expressionistic intensity that characterized his work. Known for his distinct use of contours and earthy tones, Schiele emphasizes both vulnerability and elegance in her posture against a minimalistic background.

"Nimrod", named after the biblical king who built the Tower of Babel, an oil on canvas painting from 2022, addresses the unfortunate lack of communication during the COVID epidemic. Given the open process of its making, it is not a simple one for one symbolism, and is much more ambiguous in meaning.

This is a mixed media painting from that series which used paint shirts as a substrate for components using surreal, Jungian automatism. "Contrition" is an antipode to the other works too critical of my upbringing, & shows, through a hidden drawing in the pocket, what a kind and loving father I had.

This mixed media painting, Kronus, speaks to how children invariably carry the choices made by their parents, in this case; drinking. This was part of a series of works I made years ago where the content developed by the layering of automatic formal choices- very deliberately Jungian in its process.

I was so proud to take part in today's No Kings Protest in the Village of Williamsville, NY. The only way to deal with petty bullies and would-be tyrants is to stand up to them.
