I make my own tomatoes here w romas imported from Oaxaca. Boil them until the skin comes off and then add some boxed tomato sauce. It’s not bad, but it sure isn’t San Marzano. 🇮🇹

The famous regional dish of Yucatán is cochinita. Pork butt slow cooked in an underground earth oven, served w tortillas made from pork lard, with a side of pickled onions & statins. 😂🤣

I bought some once & put it in the fridge. The next day I scooped out 2 inches of fat right off the top.

Technically, yes. Yucatán is a whole other level. Nothing grows here bc of the asteroid that hit 66 million years ago. Turned the whole peninsula into limestone. Very poor soil, too. Everything has to be imported from all the places u mentioned. But we do have cenotes & pyramids! ❤️
