Portrait format in painterly acrylics on canvas. Under a plain mid-blue sky we look straight on at the front of a red-brick 4-story Georgian house, 2 window bays wide, with half of each adjoining house either side in the same terrace. The street surface is painterly purple with white perpendicular parking lines. The house is mostly orange brick with multi-coloured pointing, the house on the left is more pink brick with pale yellow pointing, and the house on the right more brown brick with blue pointing. Doors have white fanlights and columns, with yellow and grey steps down to yellow footpath. Window frames are white with glass showing dark reflections. Sunshine is brilliant judging by downward shadows of window rails, drainpipes between houses, and lamp-post on right. Signed bottom right, Liam Daly

A #painting to look at. "Fitzwilliam Square" came from a time when I was just about able to do the odd commission. Still took me years (There was a lot of bricks). Dublin, sometimes it's Georgian. #ArtYear #SpeirGhorm

Thank you for the tremendous support, tonight, and all year, with the majority of the 3,648 in attendance at Tolka Park being behind the Seagulls.

Safe home to all

Just published: my new book "Forgotten Times" (Amberley Publishing). 180 photographs taken by me in the 1950s and 1960s on the streets of the UK, Ireland and the outer islands and depicting a world largely unknown to the present day. #up0410

The Second Coming
By W.B. Yeats

Guess who just got back today?
Them wild-eyed boys that'd been away
Haven't changed, hadn't much to say
But man, I still think them cats are crazy
They were askin' if you were around
How you was, where you could be found
Told them you were livin' downtown
Drivin' all the old men crazy

[Chorus]
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town
(I said) The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town
The boys are back in town

For National Poetry Day, a personal favourite of mine and one I think about more and more in these troubled times.

Landscape format in acrylics on backing board. The bottom two thirds is the lake with its shore in the foreground. A jagged humpbacked mountain sits on the horizon. It is in many knobbly segments in greys and magenta with a golden bottom, lower steep slopes and highlighted bits dotted along several sections of its higher parts between the darker greys and magenta. Slopes of other mountains begin at the left edge in ochre and dark green, and a small pale blue peaked mountain in the distance seen in the gap between them. The lake is a grey green, dark in the centre, pale along the far edge at the base of the mountain and on the far left side by its soft shore. The end of the stone jetty peeps out from the right edge in the foreground. It is rendered in dark magenta and greys where it is in shadow, and in pale grey on its walking surface and three steps to the water. The rest of the foreground is three boats resting on a pebble strand. The boats are blue with alizarin trim and cross-pieces, and have their backs to the water. The pebbles are on a orange and pink background and rendered in greys of lilac and pink with navy shadows. Blue ropes hang from each boat to the bottom edge. The sky is a pale swirling grey green with slight streaks of red in it. Signed bottom right in magenta on the pebbles, Liam Daly.

A Mayo #painting, "Doolough Boats". if youโ€™re on the road from Killary Harbour up to Clew Bay, youโ€™ll go through the valley of Delphi and then you hit Doolough. If you're on a bicycle you'll stop, enjoy the iconic view as you approach the jetty, then stop again to look back. #ArtYear #SpeirGhorm
