WE HESITATE
The days to come are a watershed.
You have to improve your portrait of God
To make it plain. It is on the list,
You and your bodies are on the line.
The new past now unfurls like a great somber hope
Above the treeline, like a giantβs hand
Placed tentatively on the hurrying clouds.
The basins come to be full and complex
But it is not enough. Concern and embarrassment
Grow rank. Once they have come home there is no cursing.
Fires disturb the evening. No one can hear the story.
Or sometimes people just forget
Like a child. It took me months
To get that discipline banned, and what is the use,
To ban that? You remain a sane, yet sophisticated, person:
Rooted in twilight, dreaming, a piece of traffic.
You have to improve your portrait of God

Several Nonprofits Overcomply With Trump EOs, Erase Trans People From Websites
Organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of America, the Rape, Abuse, & Incest National Network, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are among dozens erasing trans people.
1. We are seeing a massive amount of overcompliance with Trump EOs. Nonprofits across the board are erasing transgender people from their websites.
Mira Lazine reports on several that have made the decision to do so in her latest piece.

Itβs become very apparent that so many people/orgs only cared about trans people because they felt they had to, not because they actually see us as worth protecting

Banned/challenged books are often difficult reads with jarring content, but we can't shield ourselves nor our children from the realities of the world forever - it's better to build empathy and understanding through books, especially by reading books by/about marginalized people.

SchoolHouse Rock - No More Kings
If I had a band or a label, I would do a punk cover of "No More Kings" from Schoolhouse Rock. And then I would gather a bunch of people to write a whole album of next-generation Schoolhouse Rock songs, with songs about Social Security and Medicaid and NOAA. I am not kidding in the least.

After everything that happened, I still believe that student deserves the chance to go to school and learn. What will happen to students like them? I saw firsthand how we have already been failing students like this. When their program disappears altogether, where will they go? 𧡠3/3

Near the end of my time there, the student started coming to my classroom. One time, they attacked another student and the rest of us had to run out of the room to another place where we hid. This was not the first time I encountered a child who struggled like this. 𧡠2/3

I keep thinking about how before I got my current job I worked at a title I school where there was an incredibly understaffed special education program. In the program was a student whose behavior would regularly cause us to go on a soft lock down in our classrooms

From EARTHSEED: THE BOOKS OF THE LIVING
Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought.
To be led by a coward is to be controlled
by all that the coward fears.
To be led by a fool is to be led
by the opportunists who control the fool.
To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen.
To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies.
To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.

Iβm working on focusing on the things I can control. So, I taught my students how to make zines. Who knows, maybe theyβll need to spread the word about something one day. Many of them chose to write about their opinions related to book banning.
