Hi! Did you know that you aren’t pronouncing axolotl correctly?
Suppression of indigenous languages by the Spanish is one of the Four Wounds of Colonization. This is a small subversion of colonial power you can use!
Axolotl is a Nahuatl word, and it sounds like this:

Impressive how one political party can control the White House, the House, the Senate, and the Supreme Court, but not bear responsibility for whether the federal government functions. Neat trick.

Well, I was supposed to be home from Ireland today.
But we were over the Atlantic when the plane developed a problem and we had to return to Dublin. A bit scary, of course.
When we landed, an airport manager came on board, apologized, and explained to us the EU/UK passenger bill of rights.

For those who don't recall, the closest ship to the Titanic was The Californian. They did not respond to distress signals. The Carpathia did, from much further away. That captain was a hero.

Quilter’s Academy vol 1 - the cover of the book shows 4 pictures:
A stack of colorful quilting fabric
A paper with colored pencil drawing planning a quilt design
The quilt in progress with thread, rotary cutter and pins
A zoom of the center of the finished quilt, with pink, and dark and light greens in diagonal lines on a yellow background
My finished quilt top from following the Quilters Academy. It is wall hanging sized, the squares great strong diagonal lines - a small dark brown surrounded by a multicolored teal and green print (same fabric on the border), and a sharp lime green, all against a cream background. The fabrics were all from my stash, not purchased to go together, but it came out ok
A zoom of the back of my quilt showing the technique from the Quilters Academy where the seams at the center of the four square block twirl around, and are flat when ironed rather than a bulky lump
Quilter’s Academy is a great series for improving your quilting skills! I did the project from the first book and learned a lot, even though I had been quilting for some years. One of the techniques was a way of joining blocks to minimize bumpy seams

It's June 1740 in the Bordman house in Cambridge, MA. Seven-year-old Ruth and five-year-old Andrew are in bed, struggling to breathe as diphtheria slowly closes their throats, choking them to death. Ruth dies first; her little brother dies the next day.
