More recently, I wrote a song called “Lili St. Cyr,” about one such Rocky Kid who grows older and sadder (like most of my characters do, natch). Which is all to say that I was thrilled when @lrodrigu75 asked me to play piano in the band for this here production of the stage show.

I worked at the theatre for several years, catching and working many a screening. We called regular attendees & performers “Rocky Kids” and they were such a staple of the Five Points scene that they made appearances in Goner songs I wrote.

I’ve always had a certain fascination with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Probably from coming up in Raleigh in the 90s, when @the.rialto would play it every Friday at midnight. I find the combination of freak-flag-flying and groovy nostalgic overtones compelling.
