I worked for a corporation that had a 12 month destruction policy for all email - after 1 year, all internal communications automatically purged. They wouldn't say why, but we all knew it was so any discovery lawsuit couldn't find anything.

To me, one of the funnier understated bits of Desire, Technically, was that Murderbot thought it was a great hacker because it had a list of all the default passwords and that was all it needed to get into all the systems it had encountered before it ran into Gurathin. :D

Right. My daughter (in HS) got a min. wage job at Sonic and when the supervisor became abusive, I told her to walk. Just quit. Right then and there. So she did. Her supervisor was freaked out. I was very, 'you have absolutely no reason to stay in a job that's making you cry. Quit, focus on school.'

wow.

Another problematic aspect is when you have to surrender rights to use the product/service. 'Use of this product means you consent to arbitration instead of other legal remedy' or 'use of this service means you forfeit your right to participate in any class action suit against us', etc.

Sounds cool to me.

Hello! I love this story and read it for the second time today. Would you consider this to be set in the same 'universe' as The Murderbot Diaries? It uses many of the same concepts - interfaces, AIs, stations, human diaspora, mentions augmented humans, etc.

What worries me is that whenever I'm smelling something (something bad, like shit or piss or rotting food), it means aerosolyzed particles of the material have landed inside my nose. Like, a tiny, tiny portion of that fecal material is now in my nose. :( I would much rather smell by seeing it.

I'd love to see an additional factor included in the data, like how SSRIs, hormonal birth control, and related libido-altering medications effect preferences and perceptions of sex in media.

(Which is not to say we shouldn't have or use these life-saving meds. Instead-know if that's driving it.)
