tonight, i went walking in what turned out to be a much bigger storm than expected. simultaneously rained-on and hailed-on, in addition to very strong winds. umbrella turned out to be a token gesture.

it was a little invigorating, and a lot cold and soaking. we need the rain, though.

sometimes it feels like the music that i make is only an approximation of what i want to make. there is a distance between intention and outcome. it’s a subset, a version, of what’s in my mind.

a half-formed shadow; a light from a different direction.

even before the nature walk began, there was a magical, marvelous moment of joy: a close encounter with one of my very favorite birds, an anna's hummingbird. so close that i could feel the wind of its wings as it hovered from bloom to bloom.
