A black and white photograph captures a man addressing a small crowd outside a stone building in George Square, during "Queer Glasgow" walking tour. The man is holding a small sign that features the iconic "Glasgow's Miles Better" logo.
Great St Valentine celebration in the "Queer Glasgow" tour with Radical Glasgow Tours.

Absolutely - the mighty Paula Larkin was showing us different items from the archives, they're fortunate to have folk like her working on preserving and sharing the histories of the building and the wider neighbourhood. I will give you a heads up when they open as numbers v limited cos of insurance!
12.02.2026 18:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I know! Would absolutely love to see it back up and running. We were reading a lifeguard's description, "the Turkish and sauna suite with its hot rooms, steam rooms, needle showers and marble massage tables". Grim that we had all that and shared it for 80 years and then it was taken away from us
12.02.2026 18:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Jim Ratcliffe is best known as the unpopular Manchester United owner and today he has been in the news for saying that 'the UK has been colonised by immigrants'. We need to understand Ratcliffe's as an energy billionaire who made his power and money by closing workplaces and opposing unions π§΅
12.02.2026 13:04 β π 52 π 30 π¬ 4 π 5A small empty swimming pool with a blue border round the top. It's in an Edwardian building with gorgeous arched ceiling and skylights. On the back wall is a design in black and red coloured bricks which looks like a friendly wee face
The big main swimming pool in Govanhill Baths, empty and with the focus on the big beams of the arched ceiling. They have been painted red to match the balconies and the paint is peeling in a spectacular fashion.
A round, porthole looking window in the upstairs room which was formerly slipper baths - single baths each in their own cublicle. The wall is covered in beautiful old tiles, with some cracked and damaged ones where pipes have once been.
Brilliant wee research trip to Govanhill Baths and archives today, preparing for a tour we're creating for the 25th anniversary of the occupation of the building.

10.02.2026 15:41 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Excellent, long may you avoid it. Iβve heard itβs so relentless cos Glasgow courts cover greater Glasgow (making it one of biggest jurisdictions in Europe), but jurors are only drawn from Glasgow city council area. So once youβre on their system youβre just getting cited mercilessly, forever
10.02.2026 14:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My mumβs now exempt but still gets cited and gleefully tells them to stuff it every time so you might still get the satisfaction!
10.02.2026 13:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ah commiserations - they are relentless!
10.02.2026 13:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Ah, time for my six monthly citation for jury duty. Glasgow courts like those big grim lizards that bite you then just follow you for miles while the poisoned saliva gradually kills you. Once youβre In their sights you will never ever escape them
