In an ideal world top European players would move to clubs on other continents because the standard of competition and prestige was similar, as it once was in Latin America. Instead we're going in n the opposite direction

The fact that anyone in Brazil of all places supports Real Madrid is so depressing. Brazil has some of the most important clubs on the planet, it's one of the true homes of the game.

Even leaving aside the philosophical objections to pulling matches away from match going supporters, further colonisation of the club game, and the consequent hoarding of the best players and resources, by a handful of teams from the "top" European leagues is *bad* for the global game.
