Nice to get the invite. Maybe I'll go see two. Or three.

That's the way it happened for us. I knew (partly) what we were getting when we saw it in the theatre, but my wife deliberately went in blind. And we both loved it.

A head and shoulders photo of a blond young boy gazing pensively down, face turned to the camera.

Two young men walking down a Chicago street, turning and looking back to the camera. The one closest is the same person as the young boy, wearing a striped shirt, white ball cap and sunglasses, bearded and smiling. His brother is further away from the camera, wearing a red ball cap and not smiling.

Happy 27th to Brennan, my youngest, today.

The reason we're here is that tens of millions of people will punch a hole in a wall if they hear someone used food stamps to buy soda but they're fine if the right-wing podcaster turned fbi director uses his taxpayer funded private jet to go party whenever he feels like it bsky.app/profile/thed...

But the bullying was supposed to work! They were supposed to give in to threats without a fight. No fair!

This happens over and over. Ukraine, the Palestinians, Canada, Denmark, NATO, more. The confusion appears genuine. And incurable.

B.C. RCMP investigate reports of threats against Tumbler Ridge victim's family | CBC News A funeral for one of the victim's of the Tumbler Ridge, B.C., mass shooting has been cancelled as a result of the threats, according to the local newspaper.

I feel it’s important to find these people. Not just for legal purposes, but so we can kneecap them and then make everything miserable for them for the rest of their lives. Hound them. Snap at their heels. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Ten glorious years of a guy who has mostly been the president and always been the main character of American political life doing posts like this and everyone trying to figure out what cable news segment he saw, misunderstood in the way a dog might misunderstand a crossword, and made into policy.

I remember reading once about them having to clean the shower drains out in boys schools because things get clogged up with gunked-up semen and by gum this is worse.

Seditionists. This is a rare moment where I actually wish for too much government surveillance so that word could be passed on to cranky Customs agents for when they try to return home.

I saw Baldry live once, and met him once. Great performer, nice guy. When Reginald Dwight changed his name his new last name was in homage to this man. #MutualMusic www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bj_l...

I had two different friends who dated the same gal, many years apart. She sang in a band and was from Cape Breton, her family place was apparently down the road from his. She was thrilled to learn I already knew of them, even though my from-Nova-Scotia bonafides ended at 2 months old.

Your Canadian pick this week is a good ol' Cape Breton band I saw kick ass live several times, doing a song that literally name checks your celebration. #MutualMusic www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGG2...

They've done great work for 35 years.

It's why I'm inside instead of out there being an old man and out there offering advice and asking questions, because everything I said would be interrupted by breathless laughter. Helps that I don't need to be anywhere.*

*Plus, I could sneak out and go the other way if needed.

Cars approaching from the other way are turning in the cul de sac and doubling back. I can't see the reaction of drivers trying to come from the same way I arrived. We live down the road from a school and today is Saturday, so it isn't that bad. Yet.
