The hearing on the Region of Waterloo’s 100 Victoria St. N. application has been adjourned to February 2026. WRCLS is pleased that the Region propose mediation — as any human rights based approach involves engaging those living at the encampment in dialogue about what they need.

On Oct 14, 2025, the LTB dismissed the landlord’s applications.

Cambridge women’s shelter turns away 60 people in 6 weeks “You experience that vicarious trauma because you know that when you’re turning someone away, there may not be another space for them,” the CEO said.

YWCA Cambridge runs the only Emergency Homeless Shelter for women and gender diverse people in Cambridge, ON.

The shelter has been full since it's opening on February 21, 2025.

⚠️ The federal government is proposing cuts to the Department of Women and Gender Equality. These cuts would deeply affect women and gender-diverse people in our community. The Leadership Table at Waterloo Region's Gender Based Violence Strategy have issued a press release, which we urge you to read.

This temporary foreign worker is owed $60,000 in unpaid wages from his time in Canada. He may get nothing Migrant workers who prove wage theft are increasingly unable to recover the money they are owed even when Ontario government is trying to collect it.

Cases similar to Alek’s highlight that wage theft remains an ongoing issue.
