I've seen a couple of accounts here indignant about the idea that US companies could put pressure on the UK gov to create jaywalking laws, as if that's far-fetched. US companies and right-wing campaign groups are absolutely flooding the UK with campaigns. They're pushing their views every day.

As a child in '70s and '80s I used to sit in my dad's car while he drove around with a loudspeaker on the top bellowing "Vote Labour! Vote Labour... for PROGRESS!". This is one reason other kids beat me up regularly.

Support So we've been using an Al agent since November to answer leadership questions about metrics. It seemed amazing at first fast answers, detailed explanations, everyone loved it. I just found out it's been hallucinating numbers this entire time. Our VP of sales made territory decisions based on data that didn't exist. Our CFO showed the board a deck with fake insights. The Al was just inventing plausible sounding percentages. I only caught it by accident when someone asked me to double check something. I started digging, and holy shit, it's bad.

While purging piles of old paperwork that we've hoarded, I find one document, a tax form I filled in after staying in the US for 4 months, that's covered in brown paper-mould splotches. The other papers in the same folder are all fine despite being packed against it for 30 years
