01.08.2025 02:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Here's a fun facepalm Friday article for why AI literacy matters. Save your marriage! www.vice.com/en/article/w...
"AI isnβt sentient. It doesnβt understand coffee. It canβt see guilt in a stain. But it can reflect back whatever fear, suspicion, or fantasy you bring to it."
Who's your go-to follow or read for keeping up with AI and education? I'm always looking for more to follow! #HERDSA2025

10.07.2025 10:01 β π 0 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0It was a great pleasure to be on the #HERDSA2025 panel on AI this afternoon. I thought I'd post direct links to the resources I mentioned as good ways to keep up with and make sense of genAI in education. Just a few picks to get you started - there are so many amazing people in this space.

30.06.2025 05:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Can't wait for this event, we've got some great speakers and it will be great to meet with third space colleagues from institutions across Perth
30.06.2025 05:55 β π 1 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0great to see CC working on this problem!
28.06.2025 01:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you live in Perth and work in the third space, weβd love to hear how you are meeting the challenge of #AI in assessment. Submit a pecha kucha proposal to share a practice-based example at our WA meetup: forms.gle/JZ5QCbkUxn...
Call for proposals close 16 June!
Iβve been trying to get this sort of thing happening from different angles in my workplace with mixed success, thanks for articulating the how and why in a coherent package. Very helpful to have something I can point as a rationale in future efforts!
02.06.2025 01:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I enjoyed this, Leon! I think you made a good case that they are related.
02.06.2025 01:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The question βJust because we can, does that mean we should?β has been central our staff AI literacy and ethics workshops. Itβs not just an ethical imperative but also a pragmatic one - and as you say in your article one that everyone, not just staff and students, should be thinking about.

30.04.2025 06:13 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0An entire generation of students will come of age within this generative era. Does anyone believe their exposure to the technology as a cheating tool, deepfake generator, or a creepy simulator of human voices and avatars will lead them to view it positively?

My conclusion? Vibe coding is great for ideating, prototyping and learning about programming and genAI. It's fun and weird and frustrating and creative. But for serious software development, genAI is most useful for coders who know what they are doing.
