Former DOGE engineer shares his experience working for the cost-cutting unit NPR's Juana Summers talks with Sahil Lavingia, who worked for the Department of Government Efficiency as a software engineer assigned to the Department of Veterans Affairs, about his experience.

"LAVINGIA: I did not find the federal government to be rife with waste, fraud and abuse [...] I think we have a bias as people coming from the tech industry where we worked at companies that have plenty of money, are funded by investors and have lots of people kind of sitting around doing nothing."

The Sound of Fear on Air It is an ominous sign that Morning Joe felt it had to apologize for something I said.

hmmm i wonder what industry is driving this desire to expand into (currently) protected land despite previous agreements

animal agriculture is at the root of the problem here. news orgs need to stop dancing around this basic fact. the more animal ag expands, the higher the demand for soy

Donations, credits, loans. I wonder how they’ll decide how much will be one or the other. But very far off target with the total amount regardless.

Yep. Don’t know why we’re not treating it with the same urgency or priority as we do war or pandemics. They went backwards in some respects! No mention of phasing out fossil fuels β€” the agreement from last year had that. People already talking about setting our hopes on COP30 in Brazil next year πŸ™„

WE HAVE A DEAL AT #COP29

Nearly 200 countries have signed off on a new climate finance target that should see developed countries pay developing ones $300 billion a year by 2035 (the so-called NCQG)

23.11.2024 22:45 β€” πŸ‘ 47    πŸ” 12    πŸ’¬ 4    πŸ“Œ 1

Wow. Do you know what made the developing countries agree to that? When the number on the table was around I think $250 billion they thought it was β€œa slap in the face”. I heard their number was more like $1.3 trillion. What happened to β€œno deal is better than a bad deal”?
