15.02.2026 08:24 โ ๐ 499 ๐ 19 ๐ฌ 11 ๐ 0I kept this azalea (or rhododendrum going for a few years in a large pot but when I put it in the ground with lots of ericacious compost it died (our garden is quite alkaline)
This oil painting on board (sold) was painted directly in the garden in 2011 and shows an azalea in a pot, some pansies and a couple of decorative wooden birds. Also (hard to see) halfway up on the right our cat Millie paused to be included.

Flabbergasting week of movies. The Box and Dark Web had such interesting ideas but a fundamental misunderstanding of what drama is. Rings was cool and Ringu was solid.

If you're looking for works translated by a particular person, how would you search?
Or, realistically, how hard would it be to make your institution's catalog searchable by translator?

I disagree to some extent. Yes, while it IS important to create new stories, sometimes it is also important to remake classic films that will appeal to a new generation. Romeo and Juliet was that in the 90s. That film had been done before and it was done well, but the new one interested the youth.

A stunning piece that's split into two halves, before/after a terrible tragedy. How is a beat cop movie making me feel this much empathy for them in 2026?? Enjoyed the acting of Purple but, the music direction is a real turn off. Cage as a slimy, cop just works.

Neolithic and Bronze Age objects on display in the British Museum. There are relatively few, but each one is particularly striking, such as the Mold Gold Cape: a large piece of decorated sheet gold shaped to fit around a person's shoulders.
From the 1970s, the idea that a single artefact could represent a whole period or region was popularised, culminating in the 2010 BBC radio series 'A History of the World in 100 Objects' #WorldRadioDay ๐บ
This has been criticised for limiting display of 'everyday objects'.
