It is getting harder though. Funny how some words are almost same or same as English, e.g. brown and pinc then you get gwyrdd and glas (green & blue). And struggling with some of the pronouns. It sort of draws you in easily, then hammers you over the head. 😂

And my duolingo Welsh means I can translate! 😅

Not horrendous inside, just means header is a bit closer to edge of page but still annoying. Proof copy was fine.

The two author copies I splashed out on for Harrowfield and Twiggy Voo? arrived today. Both are 5x8 and most def. formatted and uploaded at that size. Noticed these two have just shy of 0.5 cm difference in height (ie Harrowfield is shorter than should be). Anyone else get these discrepancies?

I feel she could tell many another story!

It starts off with the title story, The Mistress of the Crows, a creepy, tragic, and yet eventually heartwarming tale that sets a high bar for the rest to follow and in fact it remains my favourite out of all of them. Other stories revolve around vampires, wolves and retellings (I always have a weakness for Red Riding Hood retellings) and are very much worth a read. View this book's reviews on Amazon

Invitations to her Christmas gatherings are coveted and this particular occasion consists of a mixture of aristocracy, businessmen and music hall artistes including the infamous Paulette. Winston Churchill, purveyor of fine meats, and part of Britain’s underground resistance is also invited. His remit is to keep the errant Prince Eddie in check and shed some light on Paulette’s involvement in the scandal swirling around the murder of his friend, singer Harry Fragson. However, when the Empress decides to stage her own ‘murder mystery’ as part of the festivities, a real body in the library appears. Immediately, Paulette is suspected. As snow sets in and isolates the house and its inhabitants, can Winston save her bacon and escape a roasting from both the Emperor and the nominal King, George V?

Finished @erynmccee.bsky.social 's The Woman in White. Emotive and poignant ghost story very much highlighting historic traumas of women and the failure of the establishment to recognise such (then and, to an extent, now, despite public rhetoric - justice does not prevail).

Highly recommend.

Desperation and with no one to turn to. The worst.

As a writer, I'd like to scare everyone because that's me an you playing around and sharing parts of me I can't normally.

As a person, I want to scare the wealthy and the bootlickers. We should all be allowed to be loud and ugly to people who want us dead. Become a bother.
