Lawmakers Scrutinize Secretive Process Behind Energy Bill Hikes In a state Senate hearing on spiraling energy bills, consumer advocates lamented the closed-door negotiations at the heart of New York’s ratemaking…

In theory, the process that determines your energy bills plays out in public. In practice, watchdogs say, the key decisions are made behind closed doors.

This week, lawmakers scrutinized the secretive settlement process at a hearing.

How Trump’s Case Against Revolution Wind Fell Apart The administration argued in the name of national defense β€” but Orsted had receipts.

Scoop: Trump lost the legal battle over halting the offshore Revolution Wind project after Orsted, its developer, brought reams of evidence to court alleging the government was lying about military security concerns.

It’s a sign truth can empower companies Trump targets.

Can you be more specific about distortion risks? Do you think stronger staffing levels and tougher oversight could help mitigate risks? Would symmetrical incentives help?

US electricity demand started growing again for the first time in 15 years. This happened at the same time that growth from electrification of homes, vehicles, and manufacturing put more upward pressure on electricity demand-and prices. In the face of this new demand, the Us should be enabling new electricity supplies to come online, and quickly. Solar, energy storage, and wind power are clean energy assets that can be quickly deployed to meet Al's demands, and are the dominant sources of new energy capacity to get connected to the grid today. Unfortunately, the Trump administration's One Big Beautiful Bill raises taxes on clean energy while Administration actions create new red tape making deployment of these energy sources more difficult and take longer. Reportedly, the Secretary of the Interior has to personally. approve all permits for solar and wind power projects on federal lands. This doesn't sound like a formula for getting new electricity supplies on the grid quickly.

Yes, lower FF capacity factors reflect clean energy supplanting power sector FF - great pathway to drive down GHG pollution via reduced operating hours. Having FF units available in the transition - particularly w increased DERs - helps protect reliability and reduces conflict over stranded assets.

The way to fight totalitarianism isn't just to complain about the erosion of the rule of law - it's to show people the practical consequences of power consolidation.

And in America, that's 17 million people losing their health care to pad the pockets of the ruler's rich cronies.

Seems like the wrong time to limit the Nation’s capacity to conduct climate research.

Given the way utility rates work, Georgia ratepayers will both pay for the costs of this equipment and die from the air pollution because the utility has turned it off.
