Here's my review of Metroid Prime 4, a game that I at times really loved, and at other times felt like torture to play.

Straight simulations are cool, but great to see someone really lean-in to the transformative nature of animation to try and capture the feel of skating without trying to be literal about it.

Skate Story is very neat! Fine skating, incredible vibes. Pretty cool contrast to Skate, in some way. Skate really struggled to capture the essence of skate culture despite having really in-depth trick controls, but Skate Story gets it by being way less meticulous and more abstract.

I felt very good about my top 5 for a while, but the bottom 5 has been hell. A lot of games I really like, but with some big caveat.

Barring any last second surprises, I think my year-end games list is basically locked. And the only metric I am using to judge that is that the key art for my favorite 10 look really aesthetically pleasing together. That’s kinda when you know you’re done.
