“The left is missing out on AI!” YEP. Most of us want to miss out! If it ever proves its actual usefulness to our actual lives, stops plagiarizing, and is no longer an environmental disaster, maybe we revisit. Burden of proof is on the industry. So far they’ve done the opposite of that!

Sorry to get radical but I don’t think it’s my job or yours to embrace, accept, understand - and certainly not to use - the thing being sold to us as AI. I don’t like any part of it, so I won’t. I’m missing out? Good, that’s what I want. You’re worried about me missing out? That’s fuckin weird, man.

It’s so hard to have a reasonable conversation about AI, because people refuse to see the massive upsides of job elimination, higher electrical bills, hard drive shortages, poisoning black people in Memphis, and an economy where a handful of pedos with bad hair control your life

Speaking of gen AI, my new-ish job wants a professional headshot of me to put on our website.

I've never had a professional pic done--I've barely had any pictures taken of me, selfie or otherwise, in the past 5 years.

Now, my boss is fantastic and not big into AI but does have personal use cases.

I'm still fkn miffed that they upped my subscription plan to auto-include Copilot. I disabled that shit asap. If my job didn't require using Microsoft products, I would've ditched it entirely, and I love Word. So tired of this stuff. Pls, o unholy AI bubble, pop for us!

But, either way, even if they think I'm technologically an idiot, the stealing peoples' creative output, killing peoples' jobs, and destroying the environment for data centers are not worth any very minor potential upgrades (arguable) to most daily workflows that using AI could provide.

I got an email from Microsoft today wanting to survey me about 365. It was almost entirely about Copilot. Which felt nice. The way it was set up, though, made it seem like I didn't know what AI was or what it could do because I didn't check a usage box for any of their shit integrated w/ Copilot.

Totally valid xD I've eschewed 99% of M/F relationships entirely because of this, all the hidden shit and base needs for a healthy, reciprocal/symbiotic relationship (of any kind) that society generally doesn't require men learn; it's way easier for a person that doesnt participate to talk about lol

I feel like the professions/workflows where it's actually helpful (not an active roadblock and/or danger), it doesn't need to be pushed. They always mention radiology and other large-data science use cases but, you know? Those people already knew about it and/or sought info. It didn't need selling.
