SCOOP: Johnson closed House hours after Congress received Epstein’s financial records The decision to shut down the House — and by extension the government — came hours after the Oversight Committee received documents from the US Treasury.

A partial publication of Treasury docs has confirmed Trump’s fears and disproved his administration’s claim: within the just six pages are the names of Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and Bill Gates.

The shutdown halts the investigation and prevents the US Treasury from delivering any more records.

Trump admin stations troops in third US city ‘to enforce the will of the president’ Pre-positioning active military units allows for the immediate use of force in strategic locations should the president invoke the Insurrection Act.

"When the military has been used in countries where you have a dictatorship, the military is there to enforce the will of the dictator.

Shall I say that again? In America, the military is being used to enforce the will of the president.”

This is actually a different amendment than Schumer’s. It’s probably just as likely to get blocked, but the financial angle could entice a Republican senator or two.

It was, the investigation started in 2022. From the article:

“Investigators obtained access to a small number of suspicious transaction reports from the US Treasury under the Biden administration in 2024, but Trump’s Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revoked access soon after Trump was inaugurated.”

Senate releases list of 58 suspected Epstein co-conspirators as pressure in Congress builds Epstein’s victims announced later that day they would publish a client list of their own if the Trump admin continued to withhold the Epstein Files from the public.

Two new lists of Jeffrey Epstein’s potential clients and accomplices were announced on Wednesday: one from an ongoing congressional investigation, and another compiled by the deceased sex trafficker’s victims.

Trump fires IRS Chief after Senate orders audit of Epstein’s finances While it’s unlikely the Trump loyalist would have complied, his dismissal helps run out the clock of the six-year statute of limitations for audits of the deceased.

The IRS’ limitations have no bearing on Wyden’s investigation, which is compiling more evidence to justify an audit into Epstein’s finances.

But access to necessary documents has been revoked by the Trump administration, and Senate Republicans have refused to issue a subpoena to obtain them.

FBI field offices aren’t helping Texas execute its symbolic warrants against Democrats Sen. Cornyn's request appears to be too outlandish even for Patel’s FBI: the Chicago Field Office said agents haven't been assigned to execute Texas’ warrants.

On Thursday, US Sen. John Cornyn claimed the FBI agreed to join Texas law enforcement on a manhunt for Democratic state legislators who have stalled a vote to gerrymander congressional districts.

But after reaching out to the FBI, Cornyn’s claim appears to be little more than political theater.

Trump targets banks that gave up Epstein clients The president named two banks as the targets of his retribution out of the 10 he claims "de-banked" him. And one thing that separates these from the rest? Jeffrey Epstein.

Both banks had Trump as a client during his Epstein Era, and have shown that, at the end of the day, they’ll hand over incriminating evidence and do whatever they can to spare their shareholders — even at the expense of clients like Epstein and Trump.

Trump administration rushes to release everything but the Epstein Files Hundreds of thousands of records were declassified over the past week, but not a single one from the government‘s investigation into Epstein’s sex trafficking.

The Trump administration has attempted a number of tactics to hide the government’s investigation of Epstein from the public, including lying about its existence, pretending to release the files, blaming previous administrations, berating voters, and closing the investigation completely.

Class-action lawsuit alleges collusion between ICE agents and DOJ The suit seeks to end courthouse arrests, where the DOJ has allegedly coordinated with ICE to ambush immigrants with a case dismissal and an expedited removal order.

Because the suit is filed as a class action, it’s eligible for a universal injunction, meaning a judge can order the Trump administration to pause the questionable practice nationwide while it is litigated in court.

Comey was a chief prosecutor in Epstein’s case; Trump was one of his known associates.

Trump's private calls over Epstein coverage sends chilling effect across conservative media The White House has relentlessly pressured journalists, influencers, and the general public to end all discussion about the former Trump associate and convicted sex trafficker.

Using his power to limit their speech isn’t technically a violation of the First Amendment — since they gave in voluntarily — but as the ground around free speech is ceded — by traditional and conservative media alike — the less Trump will need to abuse his power to silence dissent.

This week’s vote to cut $500 million would escalate beyond closing small, rural stations, according to Project 2025.

Once stations run out of money, it outlines how Trump could take control of those stations’ call signs and frequencies, then fill the airwaves with programming biased towards Trump.

Upcoming Senate vote could turn rural NPR into Trump News Network Alternatively, local stations could adopt the ABC/CBS approach and play ball; agree to what's outlined in Project 2025 and take programming directives from the White House.

The roadmap has been drawn with Kari Lake’s takeover of VOA. The outlet’s pro-democracy reporting has been replaced with pro-Trump stories from OAN.

But, far from identifying this as an assault on the free press, the newsrooms directly affected portray the vote in the most placating terms possible.

But there is so much more to Bove’s resume than firing anyone who refused to defy court orders.
