I'm guessing this is just for UK public consumption in Labour's quest to keep pro-EU voters on-side while actually following hard brexit policies.

26.02.2026 08:26 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0It's taking longer than necessary because the political class have bought in to brexit now and don't seem able to change their collective minds.
25.02.2026 06:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0The economy is trying to rely on fewer young people to support more old people, which means a smaller slice for young people.
Regardless, the minimum wage should be a living wage so the taxpayer isn't subsidising business.
The youth need to work for less because otherwise the old people can't live off their output.

23.02.2026 21:12 โ ๐ 6 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Train lenghts in SLUs is another interesting one. 21 feet = 1 SLU. Freight people still quote SLUs, I prefer metres for that as well.

No chance. Looking back, brexit was probably necessary in that it had to happen and fail to actually kill off the brexiter movement.

20.02.2026 15:59 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Exactly. They're only trying to get on the right side of this now because the absolutely have to and because the PR is so bad. If it could have carried on being covered up, they'd be all over that option.

18.02.2026 13:03 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0If you have a Royal Family, you have deference.
If you have a Royal Family, you have a class system.
If you have a RF, you essentially say, "These people are better than everyone else by dint of birth & should maintain enormous influence, wealth and power."
Why would anyone want that at all?
The EEC was basically a CU. Until the SM, there were loads of NTBs between the member states. It was the SM that really made the EU into a proper 'Common Market'.
