Japan has a lot of what I can only describe as "shorthand" for awful people, sometimes to an absurd degree that I think even most informed American don't realise (good ol' Japanese avoidance, I guess). For example: "Upperclassman" is a euphemism for rapist, to the point they'll draw adults in [...]

Do you speak Japanese, or are you reading them translated? I ask because a *lot* of the time the jokes don't work in English at all; Japanese manhwas tend to tell jokes that would be localized if this were an anime, but can't be because here they're the entire thing.

In total fairness, Metal Gear is something that's more interesting to learn about than it is to play. And I say this as a Metal Gear fan.

Steam is a storefront, the only games they controls the distribution rights of are the 32 Valve-made and 4 Valve-published ones. Unless the storefront sells exclusively those games, they must abide by the decisions of those who do own the rights.

Not retroactively; they could only change their system to require it in the future. Meaning if you save backups of the games *now* (hint hint), you'd have them forever and nobody could stop you.

That said, non-Steam launching means you don't get a connection to the workshop, so I figure GMOD isn't going to be much fun. But, hey, there are other ways to get GMOD addons.

You can run HL2 without changing anything, you just run it through the .exe instead of the Steam shortcut. This is true for every Valve game, except TF2, CS, and Deadlock, since those use your Steam account to verify stuff like bans and VAC status.

As for your library, I don't know what you own.
