My grandfather was stationed in England with the Carleton & York regiment of New Brunswick. He subsequently went to Sicily & mainland Italy in ‘43 & was awarded the Military Medal for saving a comrade’s life under fire. He was wounded out of the war at Ortona. No, it was my grandfather and he was of Scottish descent from NB. I DNA matched to his son in Canada (my half uncle) on Ancestry.

I became dual-national 🇬🇧 🇨🇦 a few years back. I discovered via DNA that my grandfather was a Canadian soldier based in UK at the start of WW2. Never knew him of course. He was awarded the MM in Italy. Very proud of my Canadian roots. Would love to live there one day (when I kick cancer’s ass)!

Final day of adjuvant chemotherapy today. Yay!🥳 Hoping I don’t have to go back to it. Living life to the full. Lots of challenges ahead but taking them head-on. Have a stoma now, but not hiding away & have booked 2 flights in May. Living and loving life 💙
