I didn't comment on your writing style. I called out your incorrect use of the ALT tag, which has nothing to do with your writing style and everything to do with your content creation strategy, and might even be hurting your success. Good luck to you.

Don't be the person who tries to get around character limits or hack SEO by stuffing the ALT tag with content not related to describing the image. You're fucking the visually impaired, and not doing yourself any SEO favors. That's not a growth strategy. Looking at you, @legalwanderer.com.

The ALT tag is there to describe the contents of the image to people with visual impairments, via a screen reader. It's not there to get around character limits (in fact, most screen readers truncate at 125 characters). If you think you're doing an SEO hack, you're mistaken. It's just not nice.

More and more, I find my reason for posting on LinkedIn is to call out bullshit and shenanigans when they pop up on my feed (as I interpret such, of course).

That practice is either going to guarantee I'm never hired again, or it will find me the most lucrative and ethically aligned gig of my life.

The very first "Peanuts" comic strip. In panel on, a little boy and girl are sitting on the curb watching the approach of another little boy. The little boy on the curb says, "Well! Here comes ol' Charlie Brown."

In the next panel, as Charlie Brown cheerfully walks by, the little boy on the curb says, "Good ol' Charlie Brown... yes sir!"

In the next panel, Charlie is gone and the little boy on the curb is watching him go. He says to the little girl, "Good ol' Charlie Brown."

In the last panel, the little boy on the curb looks straight ahead and says, "How I hate him!"

Happy 75th anniversary of the debut of Peanuts, and the introduction -- in a walk on! -- of good ol' Charlie Brown. As Peppermint Patty would say a few years later, "You're all right, Chuck." And that goes x1,000,000 for you, Mr. Schultz.

Yup. Spoiler for the episode: my first thought for folks is: If you haven't been authentic all this time, who in the hell have we been listening to / watching???

Also, of course, this is AI slop backlash, and that's a good thing.

Authenticity is Cool Again! - Matthew Wayne Selznick Creates On the 6th Matthew Wayne Selznick Creates podcast, we learn it's not only cool again to be ourselves online, it's great for writers and authors, too.

Finally saw Fantastic Four: First Steps. That was damn fine... and the gratitude to Jack Kirby (FINALLY) actually brought a tear to my eye. Someone involved in this project was balancing some scales. Sure, the spaceship is a nod to Stan Lee, but the whole damn universe is named for Kirby. Bless 'em.

I have a ridiculous urge to create an IRC server with a members-only client on my website. You're thinking, "What about Discord?"

Why not NO frills and no social media megacorp?

Also, this temptation is a sure sign I have more important and difficult obligations to attend to. :-D

20 years ago today, I completed my first novel. It was published (the 1st novel released simultaneously in paperback, e-book, and free podcast editions) a bit later, and remains my most popular book. Since I've written two other novels that are each better, I have very mixed feelings about that...

It's been a while, but I once again read an article about how someone has "lost everything" and 3/4 of the way through there's mention of how they're hiring a few new employees for their company. See also, "I was flat broke, but I couldn't not afford to buy this $3000 course!" #getthefuckout

On this day, the celebration of the birth of my story-father (okay, it was yesterday; sorry, Ray), I remind you to please do something that would make Ray Bradbury laugh.

A few days ago was the fifteenth anniversary of the start of a landmark chapter in my life... and for the first time in ten years, it slipped past unnoticed. Of course, I'm reflecting on it now pretty much as strongly as if I'd observed it on the day! Time and memory are funny things.

Few things are better for my productivity than opening up the Epic Games application for a lil' Fortnite break and discovering both it and Unreal Engine need updating. I'll think about slacking off again in the fifty years it will take to finish the job.

I've never heard of this guy until a few minutes ago. Let's not let that stop me from judging his porn star name and his doucheybro slicked-back / pony-tail / man-bun / can't decide hair.

Just to be sure, I took a few seconds to search a few other pictures. Yep. Doucheybro status confirmed.

My mother Priscilla was close to your dad and your mother. I can't recall if they were cousins or first cousins or related in some way. I met Jackie once; he later asked my mom to ask me to send a book when it was published.

There have been more since then, if you liked it..!

Wow.

"Home to Stay!: The Complete Ray Bradbury EC Stories"

*ALL* of the stories by Ray Bradbury adapted by EC Comics in the early 1950s, reprinted in coffee-table-book size, plus additional materials. This sits dead center of my influences Venn diagram. Wow.

5 minutes ago, I learned Sahil Lavingia (@shl.bsky.social), who runs #Gumroad. is part of #DOGE, in charge of crippling the Dept. of Veterans Affairs, cutting 1000s of jobs and harming tens of thousands. 3 minutes ago, after 13 years buying and selling on Gumroad, I deleted my account. Fuck him.
