Our show was at night, so it's interesting to see their stage during the day. More mysterious at night I will say, but the show was awesome in any lighting conditions. 👍

I went because it was one of my daughter's birthday gifts, but after seeing the show, I would watch it again alone. Such a great show, like you said.

Lord Huron performed on stage at Merriweather Post Pavilion (Maryland) last night to a packed crowd. Incredible music and amazing visual effects -- I've honestly never experienced anything like it. Go see them live if you can, and check out their new album, The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1

I've done zero advertising this past year (too busy writing), so it's a bit of a mystery why one of my books is suddenly selling like never before. What's stranger is that it's my 600-page sci-fi saga, Novum Chronicles. I'm sure it won't last long, so I won't give up my day job just yet. 🤪

I used to be everywhere all at once. I had an active FB author page, Twit with 4k friends (hate the term followers), 2 pages on insta, plus some screenwriter sites like Coverfly, the Blacklist, and others. It was fun but exhausting keeping them all updated. Now it's only Bluesky and Threads.

I vote we all change our official author pictures to look like this: athletic, outdoors, and enjoying life. Let's change the bookworm stereotype (even if it's true for many of us)! 🥂

Authors and screenwriters, what social media site are you on, besides this one, and why are you there? Is it to reach potential readers? Is it to commune with your fellow writers? Is it unrelated to either of these (i.e., news, politics, entertainment)?

Authors & screenwriters; would you rather write a novel or script that was:

A. Exactly what you wanted, and critically acclaimed, but not a commercial success.

B. A commercial success but panned by critics for being a predictable rehash of better stories.

C. Both (sorry, not an option) 🤪

Monday I learned that my latest screenplay didn't make the top 10% in the one contest I entered. Then today I learned that I received the highest promotion I can have at my science job, and also separately won a prestigious award for a research paper I wrote. Guess I'll call this week a win. 😀

I should probably simplify my website JosephRhea.com by removing the screenplay, 3D computer modeling, and computer game sections, since my books are the only things for sale there. Not sure yet ..

My younger brother made those for my books. Unfortunately he passed away 5 years ago, so I'm trying to keep his memories going by posting his work.

I've had a website since 1993 I think, basically since the dawn of the internet, and I've redesigned the site at least once a year. A little excessive I know, but it's kind of fun and I do it myself in html. Very, very, old school.

My site is TOO up to date, in that I tweak it at least once a week. Probably just my way of avoiding working on my current book. 🤪

If you weren't so busy creating great stories, you might consider teaching a Masterclass on fiction writing. You know all the right buttons to push for readers, and it seems effortless (though I'm sure it isn't). 😆👍

No reason to make a movie poster for my Rogue Wave screenplay, other than the fact that writing it last year (and then the book adaptation) inspired me to start creating again after my brother, Dave, passed away from cancer in 2019.

I grew up reading classic sci-fi novellas, you know, stories about 150-250 pages long. It's the prose equivalent to 2 hr feature films, which is probably why I decided to start writing them (my Novum series is 5 novellas). It's obviously easy to adapt into a screenplay, which I've done twice.

Creative software installed on my computer right now includes;
• Word & KindleCreate for writing books
• Fade-in for screenplays
• Unity, Epic, and Vue for 3D modeling
• VS code with Python and C/C++ for coding games.

What am I missing? Oh yea, spare time to work on my many projects.😭

Another geek factor is that the floor pattern is actually the lines of C code used to create the game. You can only see that from high above as shown below. With 9 levels to explore, each over 100 sq. km in size, and up to 2000 bad guys to fight, I could be inside for days and not see everything.

I received this notification from a site I used to frequent about 15 years ago and noted 2 items:
1. I used to be popular on social media, long before the term "influencer" was created
2. My last post had "over 49549" views. Could they mean 49550? Is that a number they dare not say? Like Voldemort?

I read the #Divergent series to long before the movies, & I thought I loved them because of the story's plot & characters. I just read her short story, ARK, and I realize that it's Veronica Roth's skill as a writer that I'm drawn to. Now I'm reading everything she's written! @veronicarothbooks.com
