By that point I was so love with the EVE Online community I begged CCP to hire me. I moved to Iceland and worked there for 4 years as a video producer and community manager… youtu.be/TFVnrFNMDiE?...

We started flying out to Iceland to cover their Fanfests, and their Alliance tournaments (which had been previously broadcast on the radio). By Alliance Tournament 7, esports were actually “a thing” and we were broadcasting in HD around the world…

It essentially worked like a Newsroom, with the wonderful folks from EON magazine producing all the segments. They worked incredibly hard on very difficult tech to meet the deadlines every week…

We filmed it at a studio in Ealing and it ran for 21 episodes. Each episode focuses heavily on the in game activity of the single server universe so we interviewed the most influential players and even the CEO Hilmar himself…

It was described as a Worlds First, and we had to work out how to host it online (YouTube was a baby, and this is pre twitch) and how folks would pay to watch it- we even included the pilot on a CD for PC Gamer…

We had no idea if people wanted to watch TV about video games, let alone watch them on the internet…
