Our Lt. Gov. is spewing straight up racism here. It’s sad and disgusting (but not surprising) that he’s a pastor. Good for other faith leaders for calling him out on this disgusting rhetoric.

It is absolutely insane to live in these totally expected and completely avoidable economic conditions of 2025.

Before being elected to the House first time, his campaign manager gave an interview to Rolling Stone and said that Banks only joined the military to help his political career. He basically handed out sleeping bags. People in Indiana knew this but ignored it. They’ll continue to ignore vote for him.

I live in his district. He will never lose his job, sadly. It won’t matter how awful he is because people in this area believe every lie he says and think he’s doing a great job. Being a Republican is part of their identity no matter how much their policies hurt them. It’s insane.

So… Indiana is romance and further cements my understanding of why I’ve never felt like I fit in here.

In 2012, we had twins born at 23 weeks gestation. Their combined NICU bill was $3.2M. Prior to the ACA, our insurance coverage would have capped out at a lifetime max of $1.1M. We would have had to declare medical bankruptcy if not for the ACA.

I’m reading Combatting Cult Mind Control by Dr. Steve Hassan. In the first chapter, he’s explaining the Unification Church, (aka the “Moonies”), a cult he was in. This paragraph, particularly the highlighted part, caught my eye because it sounds like every single Christian nationalist that I know.

I meant it more about the attitude of who was praying and what they were praying. It wasn’t so much about ancient Jews as the message of problematic religious beliefs. I apologize if it comes across as antisemitic because it’s not my intent. I appreciate your input in my post.

I want to teach my children love and compassion for EVERYONE, not just people who look like us or who can recruit to conform to our ways. Jesus’ love is unconditional but too many Christians are extremely conditional and it’s showing. May we be a light in this very dark America.

The Bible says we will know his followers by their fruit and unfortunately, the fruit of the modern day American church is written and filled with cruelty and selfishness. Jesus’ message has been replaced by power and supremacy. I can’t participate in that anymore.

And that belief leads them into racism, misogyny, classism, and separation. They’ve become like the Pharisee Jesus spoke of who prayed in public, thanking God that he wasn’t like the others. They’ve turned the beautiful gospel of Jesus into elitism and prosperity instead of compassion and love.

In their eyes, God reigns supreme. And because their supreme God chose them to be His own, they in turn internalize that and allow that to trickle down into how they see others. They see their ways as supreme compared to people who don’t act or believe like them.

I realized a long time ago that empathy was missing in their lives. Hell, now there are “Christian” authors writing books about how empathy is a sin. It didn’t add up until I realized that American evangelicals’ theology revolves around supremacy.

I read a post over on Facebook about why it seems Evangelicals do not seem phased by people dying due to the recent cuts to USAID and other programs that help the poor. So many Christians are being numb to the destruction and as an #exvangelical, I have thoughts on why 🧵

I came to say the exact same thing. But not just Black people, they saw free Black people calling them out for their hate.

I began my exodus from organized religion in 2012 and cemented that decision in 2016 when Trump was elected. So admittedly, I haven’t delved too much into Scriptures for a while. But damn, wouldn’t you know that these Christian Nationalists out there have me brushing up on my Bible school lessons!
