I'm censoring myself more than I'd like to (because, well, I might have to work with certain folks in the news right now), but man is this a real disheartening "we did all this for WHAT?" moment.

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.

The point of politics is to do what individuals can’t do for themselves alone. Nobody wants to be sitting in traffic all day but in the absence of political action all we can do as individuals is sit in traffic in a nicer car. Primitive self-defeating behaviour that politicians are supposed to fix.

I don't think I've ever seen the national airspace with this many active issues.
