N.J. schools are No. 1 in the nation, new ranking says Gov. Phil Murphy said he's β€œthrilled” the state’s education system was recognized with the top spot in the U.S. News rankings this year.

What a fitting way to celebrate our New Jersey Teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week. Congratulations to all the teachers, educators, and staff whose hard work made New Jersey #1 in the country for K-12 education.

Do not normalize children dying from measles. Measles was previously eliminated in the US, thanks to vaccines.

When children die from measles, it means that adults have catastrophically failed to protect them because they have rejected basic science.

His policies were good and helped many, many people - people in both blue and red states. Harris lost bc society (or not enough votes) felt compelled to vote for a black woman. This is the reason why she lost. In a 50/50 voter pool, the sad truth is that she lost bc of race and gender.

The list of words Trump is banning from government is the most stunning document of our time. Click the image below to see how many words Trump and Musk have canceled as part of their new Reich.

1. Today the NIH director issued a new directive slashing overhead rates to 15%.

I want to provide some context on what that means and why it matters.

Trump advisers weigh plan to dismantle Department of Education, WSJ reports U.S. President Donald Trump's advisers are mulling executive actions to dismantle the Department of Education as part of a campaign by Trump's close adviser Elon Musk and his allies to reduce to size of the government's workforce, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday.

Shit is about to get real!
I assume IDEA (e.g., laws/regulations) is protected, but not sure about its funding.

Hey if anyone is considering backing up any datasets for some reason today, the Open Science Framework has free storage up to 5G/private repository, and up to 50G/public repository.

(The OSF is run by a 501c3 (Center for Open Science), so if you do this you might also consider making a donation.)

Trump administration rescinds order attempting to freeze federal aid spending The move comes after the order sparked widespread criticism and confusion. A federal district judge had temporarily paused the freeze.

Trump is a weak president who will rarely pass legislation because it requires him to "work" with Congress. His only option is to rule by EOs, many of which are illegal/unconstitutional. We must keep up the pressure on our legislators when he tries to rule by EOs.

Learners with disabilities benefit from more complex reading instruction Stanford education scholars Chris Lemons and Lakshmi Balasubramanian share strategies for helping students with intellectual and developmental disabilities learn to read.

Interesting story (shared by others on Bsky) about teaching reading to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. When I was a teacher, I had students with ID and was amazed at how much they could learn as readers.
