Northwestern eliminates over 400 jobs - Evanston Now Cuts amount of 5% reduction in workforce.

NORTHWESTERN is cutting over 400 positions across all of its schools.

Nearly half of the positions are currently vacant, meaning about 200+ people are losing their jobs.

Reduction is a 5% cut of staff and layoffs began this morning, a university spox confirmed, citing financial pressures

L9 NEWS: NICK PYATI, the former prosecutor and Microsoft strategist who launched his campaign yesterday for Congress in Illinois 9, raised $140,000 in 24 hours, his campaign said.

Details aren't clear since the campaign waited until after the Q2 filing deadline to launch.

She still has about $328k COH in there (raised only $500 in contributions this Q)

Also worth noting:

Patrick Hanley, who's running to replace Fine in Springfield, raised over $100k in his initial few months off fundraising...nearly half of what Fine raised for her Congressional seat.

And Bruce Leon, who's yet to officially announce his campaign, is self-funding himself to start with $610,000.

For reference, Biss raised ~$700k and launched his campaign two weeks after Fine.

And Kat has raised ~$900k since launching in March and ~$525k this quarter (April 1 to June 30)

LAURA FINE's Q2 financial report shows the Glenview State Senator raised $262,805, far below her chief competitors Kat Abughazaleh and Daniel Biss.

She stands behind Kat, Biss and Bruce Leon with COH as of right now.

Still early but she has a long way to go $$$ wise

$610k puts him just behind both Daniel Biss and Kat Abughazaleh, who are both reporting around $640-650k in cash on hand as of July 1.

No one else has filed or announced Q2 fundraising yet

899 respondents (+/- 3%) and MDW (the polling firm) said they’re all “likely democratic voters” with the results weighted to demographic makeup that reflects midterm turnout

The Biss campaign called it “confirmation” that the Evanston mayor is the frontrunner in the race, but said there’s still a long way to go.

In a statement, Sam Weinberg, Kat’s campaign manager, said the poll “shows we have a real path to victory.”

“We know we’re the underdogs in this race.”
