In Wednesday’s @jeffcomoms.bsky.social October meeting, we learned about @everytown.bsky.social’s Survivor Network, providing support groups for bereaved communities, a peer support program, a Fellowship program, and a way to share stories in “Moments that Survive.” Check out their resources here.

On Tuesday’s @giffords.org Gun Owners for Safety Meet & Greet, for Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we learned that a domestic violence victim is 5 times more likely to be killed when an abusive partner has access to a gun. While some resources are in place, more can be done to help survivors.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence victims are at far greater risk of being killed if a firearm is in the home. Healthcare providers can ask patients about firearm access in their home; these conversations, even brief ones, can prevent harm & save lives.

In last night’s @jeffcomoms.bsky.social September meeting, we learned how to write compelling letters to the editor to convey values, problems, solutions, and actions. And, we had a very special guest, Representative @pettersen.house.gov, who said a few words as well. Thank you for being there!

Last night on our @giffords.org Gun Owners for Safety Colorado Committee, we discussed upcoming events, community outreach, developing partnerships, and educational opportunities. We’re also planning for National Injury Prevention Day in November.

Today, I attended the @giffords.org Latino Advisory Council Launch, a group of gun violence survivors, educators, researchers, and activists guiding Latino outreach work and serving as ambassadors for Giffords. They discussed issues facing the community, such as gun violence and access to resources.

Thursday, I attended @everytown.bsky.social’s “Before and After: The Life Cycle of Gun Violence,” where we heard from veterans as survivors, doctors, law enforcement, and politicians, on the impact gun violence has on our communities. I also got to meet @ferrellzabala.bsky.social!

On last night’s @momsdemand.bsky.social statewide meeting, representatives from Denver Youth Program discussed their community outreach initiatives, like the R.E.A.C.H. Clinic, providing care & support to those recovering from gunshot injuries in Denver. Check out how you can support them.

This past weekend, I attended the @giffords.org Gun Owners for Safety Regional Training & Workshop Retreat in Dallas, Texas, learning about our mission for gun safety legislation. It was great to network with other responsible gun owners, including meeting @gabbygiffords.bsky.social.

On Thursday, our @giffords.org Gun Owners for Safety Colorado Committee met to discuss ways we can engage with the community, like developing a presentation to educate gun owners about gun laws in Colorado, and ways we can help with upcoming events, like National Injury Prevention Day.

Attended a town hall last night, hosted by the CO Democratic Party, with former Congresswoman Giffords, US Senator Bennet, and State House Majority Leader Duran, to discuss gun violence prevention & community safety. Thankful for their attendance, support, inspiration, and hard work in these times.

“Chaos and Uncertainty”: A Concealed Carry Mandate is Dangerous and Unpopular Overriding state concealed carry permitting requirements would increase gun deaths and assaults in our country and make it more challenging for law enforcement to protect our communities.

Friday, on the @everytown.bsky.social July Splash Federal Hour of Action session, we learned to contact Congress to support the Savings Our Veterans Lives Act and oppose the Federal Concealed Carry Mandate which would gut states’ gun laws and let people carry hidden, loaded guns in public.
