Back home after an amazing trip to the Euros Final. What a fantastic advert for how football should be. No drunken louts, no swearing, no aggro. Just an inclusive, friendly, safe and hugely enjoyable festival of fun.

Surgeons Gow and Ward, both killed on 13 Nov 1916, serving with RN Division at Battle of Ancre. Their names are the first and second on the Thiepval Memorial! No known graves. Rest in Perpetual Peace.

Honoured to have reunited Surgeon Godfrey Walker RN with the medals he never knew he’d earned. He lies at peace in Hamel Military Cemetery alongside colleagues who were killed with him, tending the wounded.

Last day in Saumur. Off to the Somme tomorrow.

Visit to a mushroom museum. Random but very informative.
