HRM is advising residents that, due to the Fire Proclamation – Travel Ban issued by Nova Scotia Gov today, restrictions will be placed on access to the woods in municipal park spaces, effective 4 p.m. today.

Restrictions will remain in place until Oct. 15th

As of Tuesday, August 5, Halifax Water is asking customers, residents and businesses in the Halifax Regional Municipality to voluntarily conserve their water usage until further notice.

From Halifax Water: Voluntary Water Conservation Measures Requested for HRM - Due to the recent prolonged period of low precipitation, water levels within supply areas have not been replenished. With no significant precipitation forecasted in the coming weeks, these levels will continue to lower.

NS gov has announced it's banning hiking, camping, fishing and use of vehicles such as ATVs in the woods as of 4 p.m. Tuesday due to an elevated wildfire risk.

Camping in campgrounds is still permitted, but trail systems through woods are off-limits.
